About Roseau

The City of Roseau is the County Seat of Roseau County located in Northwest Minnesota.  Founded in 1895 Roseau has and continues to be a regional center for commerce, healthcare and government in the Lake of the Woods region.

 

The City is anchored by two major employers, Polaris Industries, maker of recreational transportation equipment, and LifeCare Medical Center, a general hospital and healthcare center.

 

Located twenty miles from the world famous fishery, Lake of the Woods, the Roseau area is a popular vacation area for hunters, fishermen and the general outdoor enthusiasts.  Home of Polaris Industries and birthplace of the modern snowmobile Roseau is both a summer and winter recreation destination.

 

The City of Roseau has an official population of approximately 2,800 but supports a broader population of about 7,000-10,000 for employment, healthcare, and commerce.  Roseau is the largest city in Roseau County as well as the adjacent counties of Marshall, Lake of the Woods and Kittson.  Roseau also serves populations in SE Manitoba, Canada with employment, healthcare and commerce and maintains a port of entry 10 miles north of the city.
